So it's finally happened! I actually went and got myself a new watch.
The last time I wore one was maybe a couple of years ago and it was a classic black plastic Casio that you'd probably associate with the 90s... So this is a pretty major upgrade if you ask me.
I've had my eye on a Timex for quite some time now, knowing that they have an assured standard of quality for a fairly reasonable price. With classic, simple styles, what's not to love? Anyway, when I came across the exclusive collection for Mr Porter I figured it was about time I get my hands on one! To be honest with you, I could've bought all three watches released, the minimal design sits right up my street and with the classic colour choice you are left feeling like you need all three variations.
But I went for brown, I figured I wear so much black and white these days that a bit of brown on the wrist could really make an outfit pop. Introducing a little bit of intrigue and obviously a new colour to add to my (now growing) collection! Anyway, the brown leather strap is one that will never go out of style, embodying all that is smart casual in the world of accessories.
When it comes to Timex you're generally spoilt for choice with the range of colours and designs available, what I really enjoy is the range that Mr Porter have chosen. They've managed to provide simple designs across a board of styles, all the colours can work with almost anything else you might find on their site. You can find the collection here.
Now, with regards to the remainder of the outfit I'm looking at trying out new ways in which to style my current wardrobe.
I've gone on a kind of blue journey, if you can't already tell by my instagram feed, I am finding blue more and more relevant to wear with the recent weather. Yes black is still on my mind but with the summer pretty much at our fingertips, lighter colours and layers become way more topical. Here i'm styling a real classic; the chore jacket. Several brands do this style, it's classic workwear. However I'm just in love with this Carhartt one. It's actually an off white colour so not too garish once the sun hit's it, I don't want to be blinding people in the wrong way! And, yeah, just a real nice piece to have in your wardrobe. Admittedly I don't wear it all the time, it's gotta be just the right outfit to pull this baby off. The second item on the agenda is this Acne shirt I picked up in Copenhagen last year, it was part of the winter collection and rightly so, this thick kind of soft denim fabric they've incorporated is a real winner, worn open with a white tee and you've got some really iconic styles going alongside quality, comfortable wear.
Lastly are two bits you're most definitely familiar with. Dickies and Converse. Two staple brands on the current fashion scene, I can assure you that these are worth the investment. I'm quite choosy when it comes to my bottom half, I tend to use it as a grounding in order to build my outfits off from, and in that sense I tend to just wear a cycle of pants and jeans on rotation. However I have had a really classic look in mind and just need a couple more pieces to achieve it. So keep your eyes peeled!
I've gone for a different approach in this post with regards to labelling the items that I'm wearing. I'd love to hear if it works for you or if you'd rather see a different approach or even font! Again, thanks for reading.
