With the weather beginning to hit temperatures below 15 degrees I've begun my yearly search for that one staple jacket that will keep me lovely and toasty throughout the Autumn Winter period.
I mean, coming to Liverpool has been far by one of the best life decisions I've made, but in terms of fashion, I'm a bit stuck for choices... So the weather up north has a reputation for being cold, absolutely perfect for a guy like me who loves to throw on as many layers as possible whilst still retaining the essential movement to get on with everyday life. However when it comes to the fashion scene in Liverpool, let's just say that diversity it scarce. It's just your usual Topman/North Face lads wandering round (now there's nothing wrong with it! But it's just not really my taste) and thus, the shops reflect the fashion. Thankfully there is one absolute godsend of a store, and that's Weavers Door, you may have seen me raving about it recently on Instagram and I've actually got a bit of work coming up that involves them.
Anyway, they stock all the essentials any scandi/workwear/minimal (you get the idea) man could ask for. They've got your Norse, Uni Works, Edwin, Carhartt and much more, this is essentially my wardrobe sorted, now all I need is the funds...
Whilst perusing the rails in store and wondering if there was any fool proof plan to rob a bank I stumbled across this Universal Works jacket, and man, did I fall for it HARD. The Universal Works N1 jacket is probably my ultimate AW must have. With its classic military inspired design and fleece lining / collar this jacket is both timeless and practical. Let's face it, it just looks so nice, especially in this Olive Twill. This kind of Khaki Olive Green has got to be a go to these days in terms of colour scheme.
My next glorious find comes in the form of a new cap, yep, this Norse Projects Sports Cap. This is just a real classic when it comes to headwear, and with that minimal 'N' logo on the front, what's not to love? I've had my eye on this for quite some time and finally being able to wear it and being happy with the way it sits on my head it's just one of the best feelings, I can't lie. I've been looking for a new cap for so long as I'm pretty sure I've overused that Wood Wood one (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about).
After those two highlights, the rest I'm finding may be the true essentials, the items that will get everyday wear. I'm talking some serious pieces from Edwin, Carhartt and of course, Converse. I've been on a hunt for some real heavy weight denim recently, something with a good fit and some serious wear to it. Here I've opted for the ED-55's a regular fit with a slight taper, they work really well on long, skinny legs, with the regular fit giving you that comfortable width and the taper at the end reigning it in around the ankles so you aren't completely vulnerable! And of course, being me, I've gone for the unwashed, red listed selvedge denim, pure denim heaven.
The under-layer is also Edwin, the Loggerhead Popover Shirt, This is a new fit for me, as I've never really experimented with popover shirts and buttons that only go halfway down, I think it's the ease of taking it on and off which is a kind of deal breaker for me, I kind of see it as half a shirt and half a sweater... I dunno, I'm weird. But upon trying, I've had my eye's opened. The shirt fit l like a dream and had all the comfort of those sweaters I wear on the regular. I found the buttons and collar bring a new kind of depth to the outfit and double breast pockets, I mean, you know I love my pockets.
The last pieces are one's you've seen all too many times so I don't really feel I need to shout about them, the T-shirt is just a Carhartt basic tee, something you can wear all year round. And of course, my One Star's these baby's have somehow remained fresh as a daisy despite the amount of wear they get!
I hope you've enjoyed this one. It's a good feeling to get back into the grind and shout about some stuff I'm excited about, and excited to show you! Again, if there's anything you want to see (or don't want to see) drop a comment below or send me an email! I've got some more bits coming up soon so hopefully posting on here will become a more regular thing!
