SO. It seems I always start my sentences with a 'so'... But when I'm coming back to you guys on a weekly basis it kind of feels like I would be saying "so here's what I did this week".
So here's what I did this week.
I worked my standard Monday to Friday, trust me, the grind is real. But I've managed to fit in about 2-3 hours of shooting in each week for the past month. It's a welcome distraction. Because the weather is beginning to take a colder turn I'm looking for more and more indoor spots to just sit, relax and enjoy good company.
My most recent find has been this small cafe/bar on the corner of Duke and Berry St. It's called 'Petit Cafe Du Coin', yep french, and it's got this really homely interior, filament lamps and almost too much greenery. With pillows lining all the seats along the wall this is definitely my cosy escape from the outdoors.
Style-wise I'm looking to reflect this. Being a southern boy I'm not exactly used to this amount of cold, but I'm kind of happy about it. You all know I love my layers and this just gives me more and more excuses to spend on those real winter jackets. But what I've also had my mind on recently are the infamous, checked shirts. To me, these can swing either way, you either get a really, REALLY nice check, with beautiful tones and complimentary features OR you get the really tacky kind, you know the ones that are generally quite garish and a little to obvious.
This is where this Edwin check comes into play. I've been absolutely loving their stuff recently and this shirt just really takes the cake. The tonal orange and blue vibes going on are just what I've been looking for (and with the off white back to kind of wash it all in), it just adds a little bit of pop to any outfit.
Layered on top of this Norse Projects short sleeve sweat you've made yourself and open shirt look for the Winter, perfect. I find if you're looking for that lazy day kind of feeling but still want to keep those minimal tones, I'd highly recommend this combo.
Moving from cafe to cafe (as you do) you'd obviously need A. a solid pair of winter shoes, and B. that winter jacket. It's been quite some time since I've whipped these baby's out but I think it's safe to say; I'm happy to have them on my feet. Yeah, you guessed it. The Redwings are back. As for the Winter jacket, I've done something bad and actually gone for the Navy version of the Universal Works Jacket I used in a previous post. It's just one of those moments when one literally is not enough.
I can't really rant about just how good these two pieces are at fighting off the cold and wet, everything you can expect from a British Winter. I've had my Redwings for about 2 years now, wearing them off and on every time it rains or I just want something a little more sturdy for the days events. And they've ONLY just started to wear in, but trust me, it's well worth it. As for the jacket, I think its the fleece collar and lining that really gets me, it's in this year right?
But anyway, that brings this short Sunday to a close, it's a bit of a light one this week but I'm still heading for that more visual representation of my work and outfits. Anyway, what you can be excited for is a little trip I'm taking this week, my girlfriend has been very kind and is treating me to a trip over to Amsterdam! One of the many beauts in Europe. So yes, next week you can expect a lot more. Maybe even a guide? Would you guys like that?
Let me know.
